My computer is slow,

how do I speed it up!!

There are many things about our computers which we just take for granted.

The main one is:
That our computer will always work properly!

And why do we just expect it to start at all times when we dont do any maintenance or upkeep, but then again why should we have to do this?  And equally why should we do a backup?

What do we expect when we buy software, that it will work as expected? Without fail? And why shouldn't we expect things that we have paid for to work correctly. Sadly the reality is a different story, the main reason is that in our rush to get things done we have forsaken quality, thus most products will malfunction or simply not work as designed or intended.

So why do we accept that software is not perfect, or as close to it as possible. We dont accept our cars, houses, clothes not being up to standard, yet we accept that most software developers can write their software, release it and then apply "updates" to fix it when the need arises.

Is it because we are conditioned to this style or approach now, this approach has been in vogue for many years. Should we accept this situation?

Perhaps there is a method to the madness, perhaps it is not about profits for the big companies maybe, just maybe this is the best way to go!!

The way technology has changed in recent years and continues to evolve, get faster, smaller, more powerful, perhaps this approach has been designed to facilitate the speed of growth of the technology advances. Or is this process of continual growth and development of all things computer related just an excuse for companies to make poorly designed products?

The bottom line is we just accept that the situation is like it is, we continue to buy faster computers, new technology and use it like never before. Whilst we do this the process of updating will continue in this manner for as long as we can foresee.

As an end user of a computer we need to be able to continue to use our computers for the purposes we intended when we buy it.

The more we use our computers for internet searches, email, social networking, storing our pictures with online sites the more dependant we become on them.

The problem with computers is that there are also many other issues which can affect our day to day use of them. Viruses are continuing to be a major issue, reliable electricity supplies to your house (and by extension your computer), and other products which assist us with our mobile lives such as USB sticks (storage devices), portable hard disks, laptops and newer things like iPads are making it more difficult to securely and safely keep a track of our personal information.

So what happens when the inevitable happens and you lose your laptop, your USB stick fails, your computer just wont start anymore.

You wont lose your data if you do regular backups, but more importantly (mainly because my bet is you wont back up) you need to maintain your computer. You can do this by using, what is called a Registry Cleaner.
